Naturally, your (insert beautiful new garden thing here) will be happiest if it fits nicely within the aesthetics of your garden. Should the wood be rough-cut or smooth-cut? What will be nearby? Who will be using it? Are critters an issue? Will it be involved in the production of food?
Perhaps you admire Frederick Law Olmsted and his belief in “elegance of design” – a composition in which all parts are subordinated to a single, coherent effect in which the individual elements are “as little … as warp & woof in a brocade.” (of course I had to look that up).
Warps and woofs aside, much of what we do is custom-built, even if that means modifying an existing design only an inch or two. Just let us know!
